Catering for 300 guests at the Royal opening of EACH’s new hospice near Norwich, The Nook, is being sponsored by The Hotel Folk, who own and run six hotels and event venues across Suffolk.
The opening on Friday will be attended by HRH The Duchess of Cambridge, Royal Patron for EACH (East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices).
Guests will be coming from across Norfolk and beyond including key supporters of EACH, volunteers for the charity and local dignitaries.
The Hotel Folk’s Executive Chef, Justin Kett, will be co-ordinating five chefs from across the group who will work alongside EACH’s own in house kitchen team. The buffet menu will include beetroot cones with goat’s cheese; finger sandwiches; scampi with wasabi mayonnaise; smoked salmon blinis and mini Yorkshire puddings with roast beef. A selection of cheesecakes and frangipane tarts will follow with tea and coffee to drink.
Chefs preparing the food on the day will include David Margas, Adrian Movila and Nathan Treilou from the Thorpeness Golf Club & Hotel; Sam Ashdown from the Swan at Lavenham Hotel and Spa and Ben Hegarty from the Crown at Woodbridge.
EACH runs the region’s three children’s hospices, the other two being The Treehouse, in Ipswich, and one in Milton. Between them, they support around 450 families at any one time. Over 80% of their funding comes from donations, which is put towards the care they provide for children and young people with life-threatening conditions including specialist nursing care, symptom management, short breaks, art and music therapy, end of life care and bereavement therapy.
The Nook is a brand new hospice, which will put EACH in a far stronger position to better serve children, young people and families, and transform care in Norfolk. It includes a hydrotherapy pool, a state-of-the-art sensory room and music studio.
A Trustee of EACH, Brad McLean, General Manager at the Hotel Folk’s Thorpeness Golf Club & Hotel said: “We are delighted to help this incredibly worthwhile charity and are confident The Nook will prove to be a tremendous asset to families in and around Norwich. We will always remember the deep compassion, care and bereavement counselling we experienced from EACH when we lost our son in 2012”.
The Hotel Folk’s collection includes the Swan at Lavenham Hotel and Spa; Brudenell and White Lion in Aldeburgh; Crown at Woodbridge; Crown and Castle in Orford; Thorpeness Golf Club & Hotel and Thorpeness Country Club. www.thehotelfolk.co.uk.
