Members of a leading Suffolk technology company took on the challenge of climbing Mount Snowdon during Mental Health Awareness Week.
Comms Unite, based in Martlesham took part in the climb on Friday 17 May as a team building exercise and raised money for a local charity.
As well as being a personal ‘bucket list’ goal for the team, the main reason behind being part of the trip was to act as a team building exercise bringing them closer together professionally by working towards a common goal.
As well as being part of their professional and personal development, technology and communications specialist Comms Unite also decided to use the walk as an opportunity to raise money for charity and will be making a donation of £250 to Suffolk Mind.
Nick Shaw director of Comms Unite said: “We jumped at the chance to undertake this challenge because we saw it as an opportunity to achieve an item on all of our bucket lists as one cohesive unit.
“The nature of our work means that we spend our time on site in our specific specialism teams, so it was great for us all to have the chance to take on something that brings us all together.
“One of the key motivating factors for us was being able to give back to a cause close to all of our hearts.
“Mental health is something we feel strongly about as a company. As communications experts, we support the view that we all need to do better when it comes to talking about mental health issues in the workplace.
“As a director, I want to ensure that we create an open culture where staff feel comfortable to ask for help and share with us any issues that may be affecting them.
“Exercise is great for helping with stress, anxiety and depression and as we undertook our adventure during Mental Health Awareness Week, we thought it was a perfect fit.
He went on to say; “Taking part in the walk was a great opportunity for us to lead by example and talk with each other about things that we may not have ordinarily had time to do in our usual work environment.
“It was such a great experience for us, and I feel that the way we have worked together has made the team stronger.”
The climb was undertaken by three of the Comms Unite team.
