The Society’s branch-based savings accounts can still be managed using the telephone and postal service, and viewed online. The online platform also allows new savings accounts to be opened and managed digitally.

‘Grateful for support’

Suffolk Building Society’s Chief Executive, Richard Norrington, said: “We’re sorry to see the agency in Capel St Mary go and understand that it may cause concern and inconvenience for those who rely on our services.

“We want to reassure our members that we’re here to help them through this transition with personal guidance and assistance, and, as ever, we’re very grateful for their support.

“We’re still fully committed to local face-to-face service in an increasingly digital world. In fact, a highlight of the year so far has been the recent opening of our new Felixstowe branch in March.”

The Society’s members have already been notified of the closure. Although the Society does not offer banking services such as current accounts, there are still options for those wishing to access cash in the area.

Remaining cash services in Capel St Mary include the Post Office, as well as ATMs located at the East of England Co-op and the Murco petrol station.
