A partner at an Ipswich law firm raises money for charity by dusting off his tandem bike for a week and offering colleagues a unique commute.
Ian Seeley, Construction Partner at Ellisons Solicitors, celebrated National Bike Week (10th – 16th June) by pedalling to a different colleague’s home each morning, cycling to the office before taking them back home again at the end of the day.
Together, Ian and his five co-cyclists – Jodie Cobb, Cerys Gunn, Nicola Weldon, Lesley Lewis and Nick Bowen – along with many other colleagues across the firm through various fundraising initiatives, have raised £6,025 for the Essex Wildlife Trust and Brain Tumor Charity.

“Everyone at Ellisons has been focused on raising as much money as possible for our two chosen charities to celebrate our 260th year as the region’s trusted advisors. Pedalling across Ipswich each day has certainly made my commute to the office interesting, and it was great to share that experience with Jodie, Nicola, Cerys, Lesley and Nick too.
“A huge thank you to everyone who has donated – it really spurred us on.”
Tandem bikes allow two riders to cycle together regardless of their abilities. As a keen cyclist, Ian has inspired his colleagues to give cycling to work a go.

Ian’s challenge was also in memory of a very popular colleague, who died last year and who is sadly missed by colleagues, clients and contacts.
This challenge is part of a series of events the firm is undertaking throughout 2024 to mark its 260th anniversary.
So far this year, Managing Partner Guy Longhurst got off the couch to run a marathon, Ellisons’ Chelmsford office team ran 5km every day for a month and all Ellisons offices enjoyed a Eurovision sweepstake. If you would like to support the fundraising, please donate via the firm’s JustGiving page.
