Do Good Networkers get ActivLives community garden winter-ready

The final Do Good Networking event of 2020 took place in October, where volunteers from local businesses spent a socially-distanced morning doing maintenance work at the People’s Community Garden, Maidenhall allotments. The garden is part of the ActivLives family, which brings together people of all ages and abilities to develop and maintain the green space.

Do Good Networking was founded by Ipswich-based technical agency SimpleClick. Their ethical business networking events give attendees the opportunity to do good for their local community at the same time as making valuable professional connections. The October event was hosted at ActivLives’ People’s Community Garden at Maidenhall allotments in Ipswich. Volunteers helped with seasonal tasks in the Wildflower Meadow and Bee Garden, such as lopping branches, raking hay and planting wildflower seeds, while networking with other local businesspeople.

Do Good Networking events aim to help business professionals build relationships, support local charities through meaningful tasks and have fun along the way. The last event of this year supported ActivLives, a charity working in Ipswich and across Suffolk. ActivLives aims to keep people active, connected and involved with their local community through accessible sports and exercise, learning new skills and volunteering opportunities. The Maidenhall ActivGarden site includes a sensory garden, allotments, wildlife area and beehives.

Jules Mackley, Event Coordinator at Do Good Networking, commented: “The ActivLives event had a fantastic turnout and we were especially lucky with the weather. We were able to achieve lots during the morning and help get the People’s Community Garden ready for the winter months. Everyone mucked in and enjoyed getting their hands dirty!

“I’d like to thank everyone who has attended a Do Good Networking event this year. After events being on hold for months due to coronavirus restrictions, it’s been great to get people networking again in a safe manner outdoors and support important local initiatives at the same time. I’m looking forward to welcoming representatives of businesses to an event next year.”

Do Good Networking events will be paused during the winter months due to the weather and will resume in spring 2021. Registration for 2021 events will be open to all local business professionals in the Suffolk area.
