Claire Cornier is delighted to announce the reopening of Juniper Barn in Rendham, between Saxmundham and Framlingham. It’s been a community favourite for the past few years and Claire has just taken ownership and reopened following some refurbishment including the creation of a new sheltered and heated outdoor seating area.
Claire said “When I first came to Juniper Barn I couldn’t believe my luck. It is a place that truly represents everything that I enjoy. It is a destination for travel, for good food and for good times spent with friends and family.
Establishing the Suffolk Barn Company last year, I had a vision for building a lifestyle, food and travel brand online, but one that could one day come to life somewhere beautiful. Rendham definitely is that beautiful village and Juniper Barn is the beautiful place I imagined and I couldn’t be more excited to be ‘moving in’.”
Claire launched the Suffolk Barn Company in 2020 as an online retailer celebrating the best of Suffolk and selling handmade, natural food, bath and skincare products, using sustainable and locally-sourced ingredients wherever possible.
The Suffolk Barn Company products will continue to be available from the Suffolk Barn Company website but will also be available from the shop at Juniper Barn. The shop will also continue to sell a range of fresh and local food, championing local producers as much as possible.
Having worked for the Foreign and Commonwealth Office and at Deloittes in the past, with her jobs taking her all over the world, Claire developed a passion for travel as well as food.
The cafe at Juniper Barn will offer a seasonal menu of delicious all-day breakfasts, freshly prepared sharing boards, soul bowls of homemade soup. stews and curries and a tempting selection of cakes and pastries, with the menu being updated monthly.
An events programme is launching with regular food and shopping events planned going forward. These will include late night shopping evenings on Monday 29th November and Friday 17th December when there will be two Artisan Christmas Markets going on in Rendham Village Hall. Juniper Barn (next door) will be offering mulled wine and minced pies and there will be a couple of independent food sellers also there to create a wonderful environment for a pre-Christmas gathering with friends and family. Further details will be available on the Juniper Barn Social Media channels shortly.
The walls of the barn will play host to art exhibitions rotated on a two monthly cycle with each exhibition supported by a Meet the Artist evening. Bella Mandry, a local Suffolk artist, is the first to exhibit during December and January, and there will be a Meet the Artist event at Juniper Barn on Wednesday 8th December 5.30pm-7.30pm. Guests will be greeted by a drink on arrival and they will have the opportunity to meet Bella and potentially buy one of her stunning works of art.
Claire Corner said: “Just 2.5 miles from Saxmundham train station, Juniper Barn already offers much for the local community as well as walkers and cyclists who enjoy the beauty of the Alde Valley. The new events programme will attract visitors from further afield as it provides a warm and welcoming destination for coming together with loved ones – something that we can all agree we need now more than ever.”
