Round Tablers raised more than £17,000 for the GeeWizz charity at a special Leap Year Ball.
The Ipswich Greyfriars Round Table staged the ball in the Hangar at Milsoms, Kesgrave Hall, attended by more than 250 people.
Gina Long MBE, founder of GeeWizz said: “I am so delighted by the amount raised by James, the chairman and his organising team; it is so incredible.
“The atmosphere in the room was heart-warming and the generosity shown was simply amazing. The crucial funds raised from the evening will be providing an invaluable piece of equipment in the new playground at Thomas Wolsey Ormiston Academy, where 95 highly vulnerable children with special educational needs and disabilities attend.
“It will contribute to a great legacy and change the lives of these children, which has got to be the greatest gift of all.”
It’s estimated that the playground will cost around £250,000 – £300,000 and will be funded with 50 per cent of the proceeds from a major charity legacy fundraiser being announced 19th March.
James Potter, ball chairman for the Round Table commented: “It was a privilege to lead the organisation for the Ipswich Round Table ball. The night was a huge success and on behalf of my fantastic committee and the rest of the Round Table members, I would like to say we are immensely proud of the funds we have raised.”
