Thorrold’s, the shooting and country wear shop in Diss, is preparing for its third Cheddite Sporting Championships next month.
The event at Hunston Wood, Stowlangtoft, is on Sunday and Monday, May 26 and 27, with entries from 9am to 2.30pm. The High Gun Prize is a shotgun worth £2,000 with cash and cartridge prizes across each class and category.
Thorrold’s opened in 2016, creating the essential availability of top quality guns, cartridges and accessories for shooters. The store stocks brands such as Cheddite, Pioneros and Jack Pyke. For a more holistic shopping experience, there are AAA shooting coaches and targets on site. Having the opportunity to shoot the gun before you make a purchase ensures you are getting the right gun for you.
Ben and Philip Thorrold are available to offer expert advice on gun fitting and requirements, a trait that is both rare and exclusive. Thorrold’s Limited and the Shooting Academy are located at Spring Farm, Mill Road, Thelnetham, Diss, Norfolk IP22 1JU. Ben can be contacted on 07912 497000.
Thorrold’s launched Barrow Sporting Clays, a CPSA-registered shooting ground. It has since become one of the most successful clay pigeon shoots in the area, set within lovely grounds just outside Bury St Edmunds.
The site offers a clubhouse with a wood burning stove, serving delicious, locally-sourced food and homemade cakes. This summer there are three Young Clayshots events on the site, offering a fantastic opportunity for youngsters to have a go at clay pigeon shooting.
These events are on August 7, August 15 and August 29, from 10am to 2pm. The age range is for eight to 16-year-olds, and the price is £60. Barrow Sporting Clays is located at New Road, Risby, Suffolk IP29 5DB.
