A rapidly-growing Suffolk company is celebrating securing a high-profile contract to supply converted shipping containers for a new seafront attraction in Felixstowe.
Portable Space, based at Bacton, will supply 16 converted shipping containers for Beach Street Felixstowe, next to Mannings Amusement Park, which will comprise over 1,000 square metres of unique outlets, including street food and boutiques selling antiques, vintage clothing, flowers and gifts.
The shopping and leisure scheme, which has recently been given the go-ahead by planners and is scheduled to open this Summer, has been designed to use containers set in block paved ‘streets’ with pathways, seating and landscaping.
Jack Wiles, Business Development Manager at Portable Space said: “This is a very innovative project and we are delighted to have secured the contract to supply 16 converted shipping containers.
“Our in-depth experience and in-house skills in converting containers for a wide range of uses and sectors offered the customer a turnkey solution, from concept to completion.”
It is anticipated that regeneration of the resort area in Felixstowe will boost its appeal as a tourist destination, drive economic growth and create jobs.
Portable Space which is headquartered at Bacton, employs 45 people engaged in the hire and sale of portable storage and accommodation for a broad range of sectors including construction, education, defence, oil, gas and renewables and leisure.
