Plans have been approved for Bellway to build a 330-home development at Marham Park in Bury St Edmunds, on two parcels of land which span a total of 22.9 acres.

Bellway has received planning consent via West Suffolk Council for 251 private and 79 affordable homes on the land bordering Bury St Edmunds Golf Club.

Bellway’s Eastern Counties and Essex divisions will build the one, two, three and four-bedroom homes. The plans include homes from Bellway’s Artisan Collection, which showcases the company’s new flagship contemporary home designs.

Marham Park is a new village-style development which will bring more than 1,000 homes to the area, along with 65 acres of parkland, sports pitches, allotments and play areas.

Phil Standen, Managing Director for Bellway Eastern Counties, said: “Marham Park has become the go-to location for people moving to Bury St Edmunds, while also catering for the needs of the local housing market.

“Bellway has sought to provide homes that truly offer something for every homebuyer, whatever their requirements and budget.

“Aside from providing high-quality private and affordable housing, Bellway’s developments at Marham Park will support jobs in construction and throughout the wider local economy.”

The private homes built by Bellway will be two, three and four-bedroom houses and apartments. The affordable homes would include one and two-bedroom apartments and two, three and four-bedroom houses.

Richard Burrows, Managing Director of Bellway Essex, said: “Marham Park is fast becoming an established new community for Bury St Edmunds. We are pleased to be part of this new phase of the development.

“The land, known as Parcels A and B of Marham Park, has planning consent for up to 330 homes. Our plan is to deliver a wide range of houses and apartments.

“Bellway Essex and Bellway Eastern Counties would each develop one parcel of the land. This approach would speed up delivery of these much-needed new homes.”

Bellway Eastern Counties’ development at Marham Park will be known as Bronze Fields. Bellway Essex, who will sell the homes at its part of the development under the Ashberry Homes brand – part of the Bellway group – will name their development Saxon Heath.
