Anglia Research, based in Museum Street, Ipswich, could well be considered Suffolk’s best-kept legal industry secret.
The firm, founded by Peter Turvey and now entering its sixth decade, provides expert probate genealogical services to legal companies, local authorities, and even media organisations, both locally and internationally.
Probate genealogy is a specialist area of genealogy in which historical records are used to trace an intestate person’s family tree, identify all the entitled living branches, locate present-day beneficiaries and prove their legal right to inherit from the estate.
And it’s certainly a niche industry, with only a small number of genuine firms in the country. So, it’s perhaps little surprise that the Anglia Research name may not be as well-known locally as other legal service providers, despite their research on BAFTA-winning BBC TV programmes such as Who Do You Think You Are? and A House Through Time.
As we enter the second quarter of the year, Anglia Research now has ambitious growth plans which include working with local law firms and probate professionals in and around Suffolk. This point has been further emphasised by the recent appointment of Joe Lander as Business Development Manager.
Joe, who lives locally, brings with him 20 years of relationship management experience gained in the competitive Financial Services industry, working for a number of multinational companies. On Anglia Research’s local focus, Joe said:
“The message is this: we really want to work in partnership with local probate professionals, whether we have worked together previously or not. We are confident that we can offer a time saving solution from our full range of research services, such as help in locating a missing beneficiary or a named heir in a will, undertaking an international bankruptcy search or by simply offering some guidance on a complex family tree. In fact, we can trace individuals and documentation from the 1800s to the present day and all points in between.
We are keen to generate work locally, to help support local jobs, and actively assist nearby firms in our industry. And it’s not just because we are local that probate professionals should use us – we have more qualified staff than any other UK probate genealogy firm and invest heavily in their training.
In fact, we are throwing down the gauntlet to nearby legal firms by asking them to send us their most difficult cases and we’ll do our very best to help”.
