Visitors attending the upcoming FitEast festival at Trinity Park on July 6 will learn more about the role that data analytics can play in helping you to achieve your fitness goals.

Keynote speaker Sam Cleaver, director of Ipswich-based Stoic Performance, will help visitors understand why it’s so important that we use new data-monitoring techniques to improve our overall health and wellbeing.

At his stand, visitors will learn why they should regularly monitor their temperatures, their blood pressure and their heart rates to maximise the efficiency of their workouts and improve their overall health and wellbeing.

Sam said: “When we’re in the gym, we’re so mindful of the exercises that we’re doing that it’s easy to stop listening to what our bodies are telling us. Some days you may find that it’s a real struggle, whilst other days it may seem effortless. If you’re tracking your health statistics, it’s easy to use this information to predict how your workout will go, making it much more effective.”

“For example, if you wear a heart rate monitor in the gym, you can clearly see how hard you are working. If you notice that your heart rate plummets as soon as you stop to take a breather, then you may wish to adjust the exercises from a strength-based approach towards a more intensive cardio workout. This should help you to achieve your goals more effectively.”

But it’s not just about improving physical fitness. Sam believes that paying attention to our bodies and using easily trackable health data can play a big part in improving our overall health and wellbeing.

“If we take the time to consistently track our temperatures, our blood pressure and our HRV levels then we can get a good indicator of how our body is functioning. Then, when we notice that our data is changing, we can get a deeper understanding of how healthy we really are. HRV levels are a brilliant way to monitor how stressed your body is.

“It’s quick and easy to find out this data; all you need is a heart rate strap and an app on your phone. Once you start to understand how important this data is, you can start to make simple changes which can play a huge role in improving your overall health.”

During the FitEast festival, Sam will be taking the time to explain this in more detail to visitors to his stand. As well as showing visitors how they can track their own health data, he’ll be sharing his expert knowledge on how they can make changes specific to their bodies, which will help them to make notable improvements to their health and wellbeing.

FitEast event organiser Charlotte Rossiter says: “This is really exciting – we’re looking to showcase some of the best that Suffolk has to offer when it comes to fitness and Sam’s analytical approach is a great addition to the Festival. We know that our visitors are all keen to improve their health and fitness, so it’ll be great to have live demonstrations of how easy it is to monitor your own health data.”

Tickets to this year’s FitEast festival are priced at £15 per adult, and £7.50 for children aged 12-17. Under 12s can attend free. Tickets can be purchased online at fiteast.co.uk
