Business leader celebrates 35 years supporting East Anglia industry

Air Power East Ltd is celebrating 35 years of helping keep businesses across East Anglia running, with founder and Managing Director Richard Sewell marking more than three decades at the forefront of the compressed air industry.

Since incorporating the business on 4 July 1991, Richard Sewell has led Air Power East from a small independent company into one of East Anglia’s leading suppliers of compressed air solutions, supporting organisations ranging from local independent businesses and farms to manufacturers, universities, public sector organisations and major engineering contractors.

While many people may not realise it, compressed air is often referred to as the fourth utility, alongside electricity, gas and water. Around 70% of industrial businesses rely on compressed air in some form, making it an essential part of modern manufacturing, food production, agriculture, engineering, packaging and many other industries.

Across East Anglia, Air Power East helps businesses of every size keep operating efficiently. On any given day, the company may be servicing a compressor for a local workshop, helping a farmer protect harvested grain through reliable compressed air systems, responding to an emergency breakdown for a manufacturer, or designing and installing complete compressed air solutions for large commercial and industrial facilities.

Reflecting on the milestone, Richard Sewell, above, said: “Reaching 35 years in business is something I am incredibly proud of. When Air Power East was established in 1991, our aim was simple – to provide customers with reliable products, honest advice and outstanding service. Those values remain at the heart of everything we do today.

“I would like to thank our customers, suppliers and our fantastic team for their loyalty, hard work and support over the past 35 years. The business has grown because of the relationships we’ve built, and I’m excited about what the future holds.”

Air Power East has continued to evolve alongside advances in compressed air technology, helping customers reduce energy consumption, improve efficiency and minimise downtime through modern, energy-efficient equipment and preventative maintenance programmes.

The company has also recently invested in its purpose-built headquarters in Stanton, providing a strong base for future growth and reinforcing its long-term commitment to serving businesses throughout East Anglia.

Supported by an experienced team of directors, technical specialists, engineers and operational staff, Air Power East has earned a reputation for delivering dependable service backed by industry-leading accreditations, including Constructionline Gold and SafeContractor accreditation, together with a long-standing partnership with Atlas Copco UK, one of the world’s leading manufacturers of compressed air technology.

To mark the company’s 35th anniversary, directors and staff recently came together to celebrate the achievements of the past three and a half decades and recognise the customers, suppliers and employees who have played an important part in the company’s success.

As Air Power East looks ahead, the company remains committed to investing in innovation, supporting local industry and providing the expertise and personal service that have defined the business since 1991.
