Holiday lettings agency Best of Suffolk is preparing for another bumper year of tourism in the county, declaring 2020 ‘the year of the staycation’.
Founded in 2006 by Alex and Naomi Tarry, Best of Suffolk has continued to bring high standards to holiday properties in the region. Now with over 400 properties within its portfolio, suiting holidaymakers of all sizes, from couples and families to larger gatherings.
In 2019 Best of Suffolk alone welcomed around 30,000 holidaymakers visit Suffolk, and this year they are predicting it to be even more, cementing 2020 as the year of the staycation.
Commenting on their plans, Marketing Manager Abi Charter said ‘there are a number of reasons why we’re making 2020 the year of the staycation’.
Abi continues, ‘people are becoming more environmentally aware, and wanting to reduce their carbon footprint, plus, the uncertainty around our future relationship with the EU continues, with the potential to make travelling challenging. The fact that we’ve seen an increase in our sales figures over the past 12 months shows that more families are choosing to holiday in Suffolk, and we’re expecting this to continue to grow in 2020’.
Alongside reporting another year of consecutive growth for 2019, Best of Suffolk has also seen a rise in social media followers and ‘likes’, showing their engagement with a digital audience as well as online bookings are growing.
A report conducted by the House of Commons Library stated that in 2018 domestic visits were over 50% higher than foreign trips, adding further value to the claim that staycations are on the rise. This coupled with new statistics released by Visit Britain forecasting 2020 to be a record-breaking year for inbound tourism to the UK, with figures expecting to see 39.7 million visits, some 2.9% higher than 2019, shows how the UK is appealing to more holiday goers.
