A Suffolk business has raised more than £5,000 for charity in a single weekend by relaunching a limited-edition scented wax melt in memory of Captain Sir Tom Moore.
Cosy Aromas, a home fragrance company based in Ipswich, first created the ‘Life is Beautiful’ scent in the summer to boost the fundraising efforts of the pensioner after he pledged to walk 100 laps of his garden in return for donations to the NHS through the coronavirus pandemic.
The company donated £9,000 to the NHS in June and will be donating a further £5,000 to the Captain Tom Foundation this year.
Paul Mayne, who owns Cosy Aromas with wife Tamar, said: “We were all touched by Captain Sir Tom’s efforts last year and subsequently devastated to learn of his passing.
“It seemed a fitting tribute for us to relaunch the product and continue his good work and we want to thank all of our customers who bought a wax pod and contributed to such a great cause.”
The Captain Tom Foundation was set up to support causes close to Captain Sir Tom and his family including combatting loneliness, championing education and equality and continuing to support the NHS.
Tamar Mayne added: “We would urge everyone to continue to support their local communities and our key workers during these unprecedented times.
“Captain Sir Tom captured the hearts and minds of the nation and continues to be a positive reminder that life can be and is beautiful.”
The limited-edition wax melt was sealed with a message of hope which says ‘No matter what the world throws at us, remember, life is beautiful. We are all in this together. Stay safe.’
Cosy Aromas has a range of highly-scented soy wax melts and candles available on its candle website.
