The Crown at Woodbridge has undergone a makeover during lockdown ready to welcome guests back from 17 May with exciting new cocktail and dinner menus, plus a summer fruits afternoon tea.
Set in the heart of east Suffolk’s riverside market town, the large bustling bar, intimate dining rooms and suntrap terrace have also been spruced up ready for summer dining.
Relax and chat as you make your choice from the extensive drinks menu featuring 16 new cocktails mixed to order including classic favourites such as a Mojito, Manhattan or Strawberry Daiquiri, as well as more exotic sounding combinations. A Dune Bug is made with Malibu Crème de Banane, while the Apple Pie Martini contains Fireball liqueur and Absolute Vanilla Vodka. Gin lovers will be spoilt for choice with mixes based on Adnams Copper House or Fishers Gin, which is distilled on Aldeburgh’s coast.
Tasty starters on the new dinner menu include battered prawns with guacamole and pineapple relish, grilled mackerel and textures of beetroot and goats cheese mousse. For mains Head Chef, Ben Hegarty has put together a choice of eight fish, meat and vegetarian dishes including vegan options such as a chickpea spaghetti Bolognese. There’s also a 10oz ribeye steak cooked how you like it, crispy sea bass and roast cod with scampi. Amongst the tempting desserts are apple and vanilla cheesecake and a strawberry and white chocolate slice; there’s also a selection of cheeses.
New foodie introductions include a lighter Sunday roast and a summer fruits afternoon tea, which will need to be ordered a minimum of 48 hours in advance to enjoy either outside on the terrace or in the main restaurant.
Open for brunch, lunch and dinner, the restaurant comprises a series of smaller, interlinking dining rooms giving tables a degree of intimacy, particularly in the evening when dining by candlelight. The new dinner menu will be served Monday – Thursday between 6pm and 9pm, but later on Friday and Saturday evenings until around 9.30pm.
