Suffolk Family Carers has welcomed the arrival of a new Head of Organisational Development.
The charity has appointed Laura Squirrell, previously Fundraising and Volunteer Manager at Lighthouse Women’s Aid.
Laura, who lives in Ipswich, has extensive HR experience and has spent much of her career working in corporate roles for retail and insurance businesses, before moving into the charity sector seven years ago.
It will be Laura’s key role to develop organisational culture and leadership.
She will also be focussed on learning and development for all her colleagues, helping to make the charity a great place to work, now and in the future.
“I am so pleased to have taken on this newly created role, for a charity which is extremely forward-thinking, invests in its people, and has a really caring culture running through it,” she said.
“The position enables me to build on my charitable experience and brings into play so much of my HR and corporate background too.
“Local, independent charities are anchored in their communities, developing a unique understanding of the needs of those they support and partnering with other agencies, working together to respond to those needs. Suffolk Family Carers is a shining example of that.”
She added: “I’m excited for the year ahead, working together to progress the great work that is already happening, continuing to build on these strong foundations to ensure family carers and their families receive the best support now and in the future.”
Welcoming Laura into the role, Kirsten Alderson, CEO, commented: “We’re extremely pleased to have welcomed Laura into this new post. She’ll be a great asset to our team as we build on our ambitious plans for 2020 and beyond.”
