Now in its third year, The Mortgage Awards aim to reward those lenders and providers in the UK mortgage space that have proved themselves worthy of recognition through offering high levels of services and products. The winners will be announced on 21 May at the Awards Gala Dinner.

Boon Brokers is an independent mortgage, insurance and equity release brokerage, which is run by father and son team Michael and Gerard Boon. The company’s focus is on making the mortgage process simple for the client to understand whilst being as efficient as technology will allow.

A strong driver to start the business was that Michael and Gerard felt vulnerable consumers, with limited financial knowledge, were often taken advantage of by other brokers when it came to client fees. Many brokers charge clients a fee even if a mortgage does not complete, which Boon Brokers believes is an unethical practice. The company does not charge client fees for mortgage or insurance advice or product arrangement and is directly authorised by the FCA to enable whole of market access, meaning it is in no way limited in the recommendations it can offer to clients.

Gerard Boon, founder and partner at Boon Brokers, said: “We are absolutely over the moon to have been shortlisted in the prestigious Mortgage Awards.

“We always try to go above and beyond the call of duty for our clients and the feedback we get from them makes all the hard work worthwhile. It’s an exciting time for the firm as we focus on some new technological developments which will help improve the service our customers receive even further and we have ambitions to roll out to a wider geographic area and to grow from our current team of five.

“A mortgage is usually the largest financial commitment any of us will have, but there are too many homeowners being charged for limited advice. We want to ensure everyone has access to truly independent, free advice so they can find the best product to meet their needs.”
