New affordable housing development handed over by Mixbrow Construction

Tayfen Road Bury St Edmunds

The Havebury Housing Partnership has taken over an affordable housing development in Bury St Edmunds after it was completed by Mixbrow Construction.

The £4 million project provides 36 one and two‐bed apartments; 28 as shared ownership and eight as affordable rent.

Part funded by Homes England, the development sits behind The Beerhouse on land which previously housed The Old Maltings, Vision Nightclub and Lucky Break Snooker Hall.

The plan has been well thought through, making the most of the space available by converting the two existing older buildings and constructing a new building on the remaining land, spread over three and four storeys, with a stepped design to reflect the contours of the site.

The flats sit around a central community garden with pedestrian access from Station Hill and Tayfen Road. There is also parking for 18 vehicles and each home has two cycle spaces.
