The Lavenham Greyhound and the Long Melford Swan have both closed suddenly.
A message on each of the popular pubs’ websites reads: “Due to unforeseen circumstances we are now closed indefinitely.” The pubs social media accounts have also been taken offline.
The pubs, one a restaurant with rooms, were run by Iain Macmillan and Lorna Pissarro but a dispute with the taxman put the holding company, Stuart Inns in trouble earlier this year. The company filed a voluntary winding-up order in February.
The Swan Long Melford and Lavenham Greyhound buildings are owned by Bury St Edmunds-based Greene King, which leases them out.
Stuart Inns also ran the Hadleigh Ram and the Duck Deli at Long Melford, but it is currently unclear if those establishments will continue trading.
