“We are expecting a record breaking summer with a high level of occupancy through into the autumn. There is some mid-week availability, but many weekends are now full, particularly at our hotels on the coast”.

Venues include the Brudenell and White Lion Hotels, which overlook the sea at Aldeburgh; The Crown at Woodbridge, Crown and Castle restaurant with rooms in Orford and The Swan at Lavenham Hotel and Spa as well as the Thorpeness Golf Club & Hotel.

Suffolk coastal breaks and seafront dining

Overnight guests at the Brudenell will benefit from a smart upgrade to the hotel’s superior bedrooms, many with stunning, uninterrupted views out to sea. The seafront terrace has been offering al fresco eating and drinking since 12 April; now with the opening of the Seafood & Grill indoor restaurant, the menu is being enlarged to take advantage of the best produce East Anglia can provide. New take-out ‘Bru in a bucket’ dishes inspired from around the world are proving very popular to picnic on the beach, just a few steps from the hotel. Look out for the hotel’s new converted horsebox, which will be offering an exciting array of tasty takeaways over the summer.

Sea Spice at the White Lion Hotel on Aldeburgh’s seafront, is also offering eat-in and take away from its exotic menu of authentic Indian cuisine. Choose from speciality fish and seafood dishes, tandoori grilled meats and popular favourites such as chicken jalfrezi and lamb rogan josh (closed Tuesdays).

The Crown at Woodbridge has undergone a makeover during lockdown ready to welcome guests back from 17 May with exciting new cocktail and dinner menus, plus a summer fruits afternoon tea to pre-order. Set in the heart of east Suffolk’s riverside market town, the large bustling bar, intimate dining rooms and suntrap terrace have also been spruced up ready for summer dining.

Head Chef, Jake Lawrence at the Crown and Castle in Orford is going from strength to strength with new fine dining menus including a Sunday lunch offer. Dine on the dog friendly sunny terrace within sight of Henry II’s Castle Keep, or in the main restaurant. Overnight guests can also pre-order a takeaway ‘Taste of Orford’ lunch hamper packed full with local goodies for two to share.

15th-century charm in Lavenham

The fine dining Gallery restaurant, private dining rooms and cosy beamed lounge at the 15th century Swan at Lavenham Hotel and Spa have been refreshed with smart new furniture coverings. Innovative new menus are being put together by the recently appointed Head Chef who also has some novel ideas for Afternoon Tea. Weavers’ House Spa is now offering treatments to hotel guests and non-residents plus use of its facilities including the outdoor vitality pool, sauna, steam room, courtyard garden and relaxation lounges.
