Tourism body launches local visitor boost

Local tourism body, the Suffolk Coast, is launching a campaign to support local tourism businesses and encourage visitors from urban areas to gather with friends and family and enjoy everything the county has to offer.

Led by East Suffolk Council and supported by the Sizewell Tourism Fund, the aim is to support hospitality businesses across the region.

The campaign, Gather in Suffolk, highlights Suffolk’s local food and drink offer, cultural and wellness events, big skies and wide, open countryside.

Visitors from outside the county are invited to reconnect with friends and family. The campaign will also drive overnight stays, inviting people to come to Suffolk and experience relaxed short breaks and long weekends.

Jess Brown from the Suffolk Coast tourism body says: “This campaign is all about promoting Suffolk’s unique tourism offer to a new audience, attracting visitors at traditionally quieter times of the year, and supporting local businesses.

“The campaign will focus on the area’s standout food and drink offer from top chefs and eateries to distilleries and bakers. We’ll also shine a light on the area’s natural appeal, wonderful spaces to roam, the chance to relax under the stars and enjoy a sauna by the shoreline.”

Research highlights North London as a prime postcode for potential new visitors and a new digital marketing campaign will target this area, encouraging visits at quieter times and extending the tourist season.

A new promotional film has also been created to showcase some of the finest stays and things to see and do in East Suffolk.

Local attractions take centre stage with beach huts, castles, ferries, waterside saunas, delis, fish & chips and farm escapes playing starring roles.

New itineraries have been created and event listings collated. Fresh website content has been developed, plus an online competition to help drive excitement and desirability around the destination as well as incentivising data capture.
