A new boutique hotel opens in Pakefield this spring, which the owners say will bring a welcome new tourist and dining experience to the Lowestoft area.
Owners Nathan and Sally Jones will launch The Hog Hotel at the former Fishers Hotel.
It promises to be a boutique hotel, with 17 bespoke rooms, all carefully designed to offer luxurious accommodation.
Nathan was a co-founder of the hugely successful Harbour & Jones food service caterer in London, and Sally was the sales and marketing director, so the couple knows a thing or two about hospitality.
The hedgehog in the logo – affectionately known as Dave after Nathan’s father – will feature in all the hotel’s branding, and was created by Southwold design agency Spring.
Nathan wrote on the hotel Facebook page: “When our father, who lived in Lowestoft for the last 30 years, passed away 12 months ago, we wanted to remember him in a cheerful.
“Hedgehogs were very much his favourite animal. We had always planned to change the hotel name; this came up in a moment of madness and we all loved it.
“Hedgehogs are certainly associated with sleep, which works well for the hotel. They are also keen eaters; this synergy resonated with us, as our hotel will have a brand new restaurant and bar which we look forward to telling people more about in the coming months.”
Naturally, The Hog Hotel will be a supporter of hedgehog charities to support fund-raising and awareness initiatives.
