An award-winning PR consultancy based in Suffolk continues to expand despite the ongoing challenges of the pandemic.
Prominent, based near Felixstowe, has this month welcomed a new senior PR account executive and PR account executive to the now 15-strong team.
Despite Covid-19 grinding many things to a halt the company’s wheels have continued turning, taking on five new members of staff since the virus hit, with recruitment remaining on the agenda.
Grace Harrison, 28 and from Felixstowe, is Prominent’s newest senior PR account executive, while Arlen James, who’s 25 and from Ipswich, has joined as PR account executive.
Helen Rudd, managing director at Prominent, said: “We are over the moon to be able to welcome another two people to the Prominent team after what has been, and continues to be, a difficult time for many.
“Grace and Arlen are our fifth additions during the pandemic, and we know they will fit in to the family brilliantly.”
Grace achieved a degree in theatre and performance at Goldsmiths University of London before going into the hospitality and events industry in 2015.
The 28-year-old then took on an events and business development role at a restaurant in Canary Wharf, until moving from the capital back to the Suffolk coast because of Covid-19 in 2020.
She then worked with the New Anglia Growth Hub on its Peer Network Programme for SME business leaders, before joining the Prominent team.
Grace, senior PR account executive, said: “After what has been a very strange and difficult year, I was thrilled to discover that Prominent were expanding their team.
“Joining the PR industry feels like the perfect ‘next step’ for my career, and I am looking forward to bringing my events, sales, and networking experience to the Team.
“I can’t wait to build strong relationships with Prominent’s existing clients and hopefully some new ones in the future!”
Arlen studied multimedia journalism at Canterbury Christ Church University before returning to work for his local newspaper in Ipswich.
The 25-year-old later worked as a broadcast journalist and occasional newsreader for commercial radio stations in Essex, Norfolk, and Suffolk, which later rebranded to Greatest Hits Radio.
He covered a range of hard and soft stories, with some reports featuring on national stations, until taking the decision to join Prominent.
Arlen, PR account executive, said: “I always loved my role as a journalist but knew I would join the ‘dark side’ at some point in my career, however I didn’t expect it to be so soon.
“I wasn’t looking for a new job but when I saw the PR Account Executive role advertised here at Prominent, I knew I couldn’t let the opportunity slip away.
“The team have welcomed me with open arms, from a two-metre distance of course, and I can’t wait to learn from them all and make the most out of this new chapter.”
