Ipswich content agency Magic Word Media launched dirty Old Goat at the start of lockdown.
Director Simon Young said: “Although I knew my editorial properties like the Suffolk Gazette would be fine, I was worried about how the COVID crisis would affect my copywriting business.
“The launch of DirtyOldGoat.com was a classic side hustle – I originally wanted to create an online shop that could leverage the traffic from the Suffolk Gazette, and protect revenues.”
It was a way to make more revenues from the spoof and satirical news site, which enjoys hundreds of thousands of visitors a month.
Simon added: “In the event, Magic Word Media has been busier than ever with demands for copy and editorial.
“And Dirty Old Goat is selling mugs left, right and centre, building a loyal customer base. One customer has already returned to purchase seven times!”
Magic Word Media also publishes the Suffolk Business and Construction Anglia platforms, together with online gambling news and reviews platform Smashing Life (such as the review of the William Hill Plus Card).
Copywriting clients range from global gaming giants to regional marketing agencies.
